MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNIQUES

Program commenced in 1990 academic year. It provides formal education. The purpose of the program is to train medical laboratory technicians who have the ability to think analytically, adopt the philosophy of total quality and ethical values, and meet the requirements of the field in line with scientific and technological developments.
Program Profile:
• Basic Health courses,
• Medical Biology and Genetics, Laboratory Chemistry, General Biochemistry
• Medical Microbiology, Hematology, Parasitology
• Medical Laboratory Branch Courses
Training Application Areas and Program Facilities:
Students have the opportunity to receive training, practice and internship in the medical laboratories at Ege University Faculty of Medicine.
Employment Profiles of the Graduates:
Graduates can work as technicians in clinical laboratories in public and private health institutions.
Vertical Transition to Higher Level Programs:
In line with the relevant legislation of YÖK (Higher Education Institution), vertical transfer is possible to Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biotechnology, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Genetics and Bioengineering and Nursing undergraduate programs.
Information for Prospective Students:
a. Conditions for the optional foreign language preparatory class:
There is no optional foreign language preparatory class application in this program.
b. Conditions regarding internship, education model (how many semesters are applied in a year, practical training in sectors and enterprises, etc.), industry-based education internship, how practical training is carried out and whether internships can be done outside the province where the relevant higher education institution is located:
It is possible to receive training, practice and internship in the laboratories of Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital. In addition, summer internships are held in the summer term of the first year. Students perform their summer internship in the laboratory or hospital they choose for 20 working days.
c. Conditions regarding clothing and equipment materials required by the profession:
Students use the Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital Laboratories and facilities during the semester practices. They wear uniforms or surgical gowns during the semester practices. They dress in accordance with the dress code of the institution agreed during the summer internship.
d. Cost of consumables, tools and equipment to be used in practical courses, conditions regarding tuition expenses in return for exams, materials and education and training services:
Education expenses are not requested in return for exams, materials and education and training services.
e. The content of the program, information about the campus/premises where the faculty, college and vocational school are located:
The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program is located in the Atatürk Health Services Vocational School building in İzmir Bornova Ege University Campus.
f. Conditions for opportunities to work as part-time students:
Part-time working conditions of department students are regulated in accordance with Ege University Part-time Student Employment and Internship Bureau, Ege University Rectorate's Procedures and Principles Regarding Part-Time Student Employment Program.
